2017 Down Under tours kick off with a bang from the 90s

What a way to kick off 2017 with January seeing a myriad of bands touring Australia. Three we’re excited to see are Swedish hardcore punks Refused, British singer-songwriter PJ Harvey and Californian genre-defying alt rockers Puscifer.

The interesting thing about these three acts is that they all hail from the 90’s, and are now heading down under for their triumphant return.

Legendary punks Refused – renowned for putting Swedish Hardcore on the map – are back to Australia for their second time. Despite being around since the late 90’s, slamming onto the scene with their in-your-face album Shape Of Punk To Come, they didn’t set foot on Australian soil until 2012. This was due to a 14 year split, but much to their fan’s delight, they reformed and released their first album in 17 years Freedom. “Nothing has changed,” says frontman Dennis Lyxzen. We can’t wait to find out for ourselves.

As for PJ Harvey, she has graced our presence in Australia numerous times, but not for almost five years. Having released her ninth studio album The Hope Six Demolition Project early this year, (which hit #1 in the UK album charts) Polly Jean will head back to Australia and New Zealand with a 10 piece band that is receiving rave reviews from audiences across the US and Europe.

Finally, US alternative six piece Puscifer will be bringing their legendary Money $hot – Round Under Tour to four huge all-ages shows across Australia, as part of their world tour. Spearheading the band is none other than Tool and A Perfect Circle’s frontman Maynard James Keenan. With Maynard’s incredible vocals and mind bending melodic sounds, this is one show not to be missed. Promoting their third studio album Money Shot the band will be showcasing themselves by marrying the concept of concert and theatre. Puscifer’s whole philosophy is about making their live show a unique experience, and together with that and their insane harmonies it should make for one helluva spectacle!

Puscifer play the Convention & Exhibition Centre, South Brisbane with Luchafer on Thursday 26 January.

PJ Harvey plays Tivoli, Brisbane on Friday 27 January.

Refused play Tivoli, Brisbane on Friday 20 January with fellow hardcore icons Sick Of It All, and High Tension.
