Earlier in the year there were reports that Australia was not necessarily in the touring plans for post-hardcore poster-boys, At The Drive In.
Well, those reports were wrong! In news that everyone wanted to hear the El Paso band has announced a short, sharp jaunt up and down east coast and will play a Queensland show for only the second time in their more than 20 years as a band.
Armed with new music that feels like it’s trapped in Relationship of Command territory – which can only be a good thing – the band will be promoting their new album In•ter a•li•a set to be released later in the year.
They’ve already released two new singles, the second of which, Incurably Innocent, with it’s hook and visceral energy, sounds like it could be the next One Armed Scissor, the song that propelled the band to world-wide recognition in 2001 prior to their collapse later that year.
Last year they played Splendour and sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne and these sold out in minutes. I’d expect nothing less from these dates. Get in early for one of the most chaotic live shows you’ll see this side of 2001!
At The Drive In will play the Eatons Hill Hotel on 2 October.
