It’s fair to say that 2018 has been rather epic (and extremely busy) in the world of heavy-hitting Gold Coast three piece Atticus Chimps.
Having only recently dropped the grunge-tastic ‘Bee Stung Lips’, the lads have quickly followed it up with another cracking new tune, ‘Lead, Pretend’.
The track is an impressive addition to their rapidly burgeoning catalogue, this time delivering a faster paced, rollicking anthem with an insistent riff and topped off with the memorable chorus of; “Why can’t you see it my way, sleeping on the sidewalk sideways.”
The boys are also preparing to let rip in the live realm, with a banger of a show lined up at the Currumbin Pub on Friday, 24 August.
Here’s what the boys had to say in the lead in..
You’ve just dropped your powerful new single, ‘Lead, Pretend’. Can you give us a bit of an insight into how the track came about? I see it was recorded by Brock Weston at Bedlam Studios, just like your previous single, ‘Bee Stung Lips’. Did the newie come from the same recording sessions?
Yes we did a recording session for the entire E.P and just plan on drip feeding the songs to the public throughout the rest of the year. We’d like to go ahead and release them all at once but apparently that’s not how you do it these days.
You’ll be officially launching the new single at the Currumbin Pub on 24 August – you must be getting quite amped for that!? And who else will be on the bill with you?
Yeah we’re pretty stoked with that one. It’s a great music venue at Currumbin – a massive upstairs section dedicated entirely to bands. We’ll be supporting Roadhouse on their tour, and be joined on supports by VERUM and Die For Mushies.
Any plans in place yet to release a debut album?
Not quite yet, we just want to start keeping a steady rate of releasing songs, which we haven’t been able to do over the last two years. From now on we don’t want to go more than a couple of months without releasing a new track.
It’s been a pretty bumper year so far in the world of Atticus Chimps – what’s in store for the rest of the year?
Yeah we’ve played loads of gigs and met a ton of people. We’re currently in the midst of organising a tour for the end of the year. So keep your eyes and ears out for that!
Get amped and catch Atticus Chimps, together with Roadhouse, VERUM and Die For Mushies, when they belt out the good stuff at the Currumbin Pub on Friday, 24 August.
