Australia’s first festival dedicated to writing and rock and roll is coming to Brisbane

Come April, Brisbane will play host to the first Australian festival (that we know of) dedicated to the art of writing rock ‘n’ roll.

And we’re not just talking about songwriters, but all those creative people who find a way to combine both writing and rock.

Twelve panels will include authors, musicians, novelists, songwriters, journalists and commentators with topics spanning memoirs and biographies, Aboriginal songlines, language and emotions and the ways in which music is incorporated into fictional writing.

And to top it all off, confirmed guests include Don Walker (Cold Chisel), Dave Faulkner (Hoodoo Gurus), BC Michaels (Dune Rats)  and Deborah Conway plus music writers Noel Mengel (Courier Mail) and Andrew Stafford (Pig City) as well as Gold Coast author and winner of Queensland Literary Awards Peoples Choice Award (2014), Sally Breen.

Just quietly, the full list of moderators and speakers is world class.

The event runs Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April at The Brightside (Warner Street), Fortitude Valley and Blank readers can get discounted tickets ($20 off normal price), just for being awesome.
