BIGSOUND is delivering on its ambition to deliver value to its showcasing artists with an announcement this morning of a new partnership with Levi which will see Australia’s biggest music prize come to fruition.
The Levi’s® Music Prize is a $100,000 prize pool specifically for BIGSOUND artist alumni and will support artists that have built significant initial career momentum via their BIGSOUND experience. It’s just one of the announcements BIGSOUND organisers made this morning.
Also adding to opportunities for showcasing artists is the news that BIGSOUND will expand to a new four-night format and that showcasing artists will play twice. CEO of QMusic Joel Edmondson said that choice was an easy one when you consider the event’s focus is to ensure artists get the best opportunities in front of people that matter.
“We have dozens of internationals flying halfway around the world to see great Australian music and we want to give them the best opportunity to see the acts they want to see in the best possible setting,” he said.
“Expanding to an additional night also makes for a far better experience for punters, with extra chances to see their next favourite band.”
Applications to play at BIGSOUND Festival 2017 also open today with industry tickets also on sale with special early-bird rates until 14 May.
