Blues to captivate Sharks’ audiences

Captivating soul sister Angela Fabian has a voice made for the stage.

But Southport Sharks, where she plays this weekend, is a far cry from Omaha, Nebraska where she was born.

Effortlessly moving between jazz, soul and blues genres, she’ll bring her mesmerising voice to Southport Sharks this Saturday 27 June. While the band, comprising Ray Grech (guitar/vocals), Darryl Walker (bass guitar/vocals), Joe Delalande (drums/vocals) and Brent Moetara (harp/vocals) usually do covers, Angela has been working on some original material.

And this year the band, which is based in Brisbane, has been finalising a CD with those original songs. The band takes inspiration from some of music’s best, including Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Kahn, and Amy Winehouse.

“For us music is like an expression of art, when we perform and play a great song it’s like an artist creating a classic painting – all the colours blend in to make it beautiful,” Grech said before describing what audiences can expect this weekend. “A total experience of great vocals and musicianship that captivate audiences and have the whole dance floor wanting more.”

Angela Fabian and her band play a free show at Southport Sharks this Saturday 27 June from 8.30pm. More at  southportsharks.com.au.
