Bluesfest 2019 drops bumper 30th Anniversary 1st Round Announcement

That legendary institution of Aussie music festivals, the Byron Bay Bluesfest, are celebrating their 30th Anniversary in 2019. And what better way to warm up for what promises to be a celebration of epic proportions, than to drop the first announcement of amazing talent that will be playing at this most auspicious of occasions.

As is the way with Bluesfest, the first announcement is already bulging with a swathe of long time legends, a bunch of bright new talent, as well as the return of some much loved faves.

Heading up the first round announcement sees a bunch of Bluesfest only, exclusive shows by firm festival faves Jack Johnson (who was last here in 2014), Ben Harper And The Innocent Criminals and the dynamic St Paul And The Broken Bones, who blew away all and sundry with their revelatory live performances the last time they were in the country.

The festival will also mark the final shows of freak-funk collective George Clinton And Parliament Funkadelic, who will no doubt burn the house down with their incendiary party vibes.

Other highlights include the return of Kurt Vile And The Violators, as well as a much heralded debut Australian performance by Ray Lamontagne.

The Aussie contingent is headed up by Casey Chambers, Colin Hay, Tex Perkins and Tommy Emmanuel.
