In it’s second year, Byron Bay Guitar Festival returns to Byron Bay Brewery for another weekend of fingerpicking, strumming, steel sliding, lap tapping, riff making … you get the picture. The venue is hallowed ground given that the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, now Bluesfest, had it’s birthplace at the The Arts Factory on the same site in 1990.
Headlining will be alt-rockers British India along with Ash Grunwald, Dallas Frasca, Hussy Hicks and a slew of others including nine year old child prodigy Taj Farrant from the Central Coast NSW.
Byron Bay Guitar Festival is not only a festival of performances, but a marketplace for all things guitar. Produced by Byron Music and sponsored by Fender, Yamaha and Vox, the Sunday marketplace onsite and Saturday pre-sale at Byron Music will be kid-in-a-candystore stuff for musos. There will also be workshops with Lloyd Spiegel and Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) on Sunday at Pighouse Flicks. Needless to say Byron Bay Brewery will be supplying the amber nectar. They will also have their regular menu on offer and will produce a special burger for the event, thankfully sans plectums and guitar strings.
