The Screaming Jets are an Australian rock institution. Formed in 1989 and boasting three albums in the ARIA top five, they’ve been a part of the Australian psyche for decades.
And Gold Coast trio Chelsea Rockwells – who are a Gold Coast rock institution headed in the same direction – have just been announced as support act for part of The Screaming Jets Queensland tour which starts later this month.
The two bands will play eight shows over ten days between Noosa and Cairns with western towns like Biloela also getting a look-in.
Jay Vincent, (vocals / bass) says it’s the third time Chelsea Rockwells have scored the support slot for The Screaming Jets tour.
“We’re really honoured to be asked back by The Screaming Jets guys to open for them. They are legends and their fans are dedicated and a lot of fun to play to,” Jay said, adding that the connection came through the band’s relationship with Footstomp Music.
“After we made the connection at the first run of shows they kept asking for us back. Maybe they like our tunes or perhaps they are just in awe of our sexy dancin’ skills; not sure,” Jay said.
Chelsea Rockwells have had a whirlwind 12 months since launching killer single Aztec last year which landed on rotation on both Triple M and Rebel FM.
Their debut EP ‘Eleven – Vol 1’ released in March this year, was also named ‘Triple M’s Homegrown Best Of 2017 (So Far)’.
The band were triple-finalists for the Gold Coast Music Awards and have continued to prick ears across Australia’s rock-loving music industry.
The band kick off their run of shows with a hometown gig on 21 July at Miami Shark Bar supporting Mass Sky Raid for their ‘Closer’ single launch.
They’ve also just been announced on the Wallapalooza lineup for September in Mudgeeraba.
