This is not a drill. Coolio is headed to Surfers Paradise.

Yes, next Wednesday 7 March the man who took the 90s rap scene by storm will make a special appearance at none other than Surfers Paradise Beergarden for a live headlining appearance.

With a 1996 Grammy under his belt for ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ (not to mention a #3 berth in triple j’s 1995 Hottest 100) as well as Billboard Magazine’s number one spot in 1995, not to mention his three MTV Awards, an American Music Award, two Nickelodon Kids’ Choice Awards and a World Music Award, this dude comes seriously credentialed.

And it’s not just his music that saw Coolio chalk up runs on the board. He successful made the transition to actor during the 90s too, co-starring in ‘Retirement’ as well as a bunch of HBO films. What you might not know is that he also had his own ghetto funk cooking web series ‘Cooking with Coolio’ with more than four million hits on the internet. He’s also working on a new cookbook. Then there was the time he made a cameo appearance in ‘Futurama’ and the other time in ‘Squidbillies’. Not to mention his voluntary work with NGO Environmental Justice and Climate Change educating students at historically black colleges and universities about global warming.

But music is where it started and it’s where we find him still. Last year Coolio released an EP ‘Long Live the Thief’ and has continued to tour the globe.
