An Afro Beat backs June’s Dancing on the Green

Every month, get your groove on at a series of free sunset events hosted on the lawn at HOTA. Good vibes, fine tunes and the chance to dance. From swing to salsa, Bollywood to booty beats to ballroom – each month will bring a new flavour with a complementing live band or DJ for you to dance the evening away under the stars. For friends and families, left feet and professionals.

So far, Bollywood and Swing have brought eager toe tappers to the outdoor stage at HOTA, and in June things are heating up with an Afro beat, when SK Simeon of Uganda takes over with a union of dancers and African rhythms, roots, reggae and soul from 4.00pm.

As if that wasn’t enough, from 6.00pm, the smooth grooves of Bobby Alu will sneak into the subconscious with the fresh, simple sound of Polynesian ukulele, Pacific beats, catchy songs, tasty harmony and powerful log drumming on a bed of slick style.

Dancing on the Green is a free, all ages event that kicks off from 4.00pm on Saturday 9 June at the HOTA Outdoor Stage. Bring a picnic blanket, some friends, and of course, your dancing shoes!
