Day One – Byron Bay Bluesfest 2016 has begun

We don’t want to alarm all of you who have just gotten home from a hard days work, but there is a revolution occurring. Right now Bluesfest has opened its gates, turned up the speakers and turned on the talent – with an absolutely stellar Thursday line up. We were lucky enough to catch a set from Melbourne lad Harts this afternoon at the Crossroads tent, and he definitely lived up to the hype! Getting downright funky, shredding his guitar, we overheard quite a few people wonder if Hendrix had come back to us in the form of Harts.

Another highlight of our afternoon has been Melbourne group Hiatus Kaiyote, whose energy filled the Mojo stage as the sun went down and the lights went up. Special mention to Tweedy, comprised of Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) and his son Spencer, for rocking our collective socks off before we wandered over to Kamasi Washington. Enough name dropping from us, we’re off to watch more amazing music and keep you looped in on the ins and outs of the 2016 Bluesfest! Make sure you follow us on all of our social media platforms to catch that first photo of Kendrick Lamar later tonight, or just to experience the fun of one of our favourite festivals second hand!
