Journey through the dazzling maze of winding paths and soaring domes, and awaken your sense of wonder. Since 1992 over three million visitors in more than 40 countries across five continents have immersed themselves in the spectacular, luminous world of Arboria – Architects of Air. and now for the first time, the Gold Coast will experience this special installation.
Designed by Alan Parkinson and constructed by Architects of the Air, Arboria is barely half a millimetre thick, one of only six in the world, constructed by hand from thin PVC.
The design is inspired by the patterns of tree and leaves, with natural light filtering through the coloured areas filling the domes and tunnels with both natural and reflected light. With free access during GC2018, it’s accessible by wheelchair for all ages (Under 16s accompanied by an adult).
To us, it’s a very sensory Jonah experience, the feeling of taking a journey inside a giant colourful whale. There’s a play on spatial perception, the body is immersed in the surrounding of colour, light, heat and music. Mesmerising!
