From Beenleigh to Coolangatta to Mount Tamborine, the Gold Coast is set to become a foodies’ paradise in June with a huge lineup of events announced as part of the 2017 Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival.

The program for 2017, running from 2 to 4 June, features over thirty different food experiences across multiple locations on the Gold Coast. From a long table lunch on Mount Tamborine, to a food tour kicking off in Broadbeach, a food truck and craft beer feast in Burleigh, degustations, and a picnic in Surfers Paradise, the festival has something for everyone.

There is a particular focus on the experiential. The events invite people to get out and engage and interact with produce. Whether it is picking organic fruits and herbs in Currumbin Valley, twilight distillery tours, or catching fresh mud crabs, it is all about getting out and experiencing first hand what the Gold Coast has to offer.GC Food and Wine Festival

“The Gold Coast is well known as a destination for entertainment, but it is less well known as a destination for food and wine,” says Festival Director Michelle Christoe.

“We found that there traditionally wasn’t a strong identity for the Gold Coast’s food and wine industry. What people don’t see is that the food scene has changed a lot… and right now there is a vibrant and innovative food culture here that we are extremely proud to be a part of. From high end restaurants, to outdoor markets, to food trucks, experiential food, to fresh produce, the Gold Coast has an exciting story to tell around food and wine… the Gold Coast Food & Wine Festival 2017 is that story.”
The program launch at NightQuarter gave a nod to local produce, with guests nibbling on a range of cheeses, delicious meats and of course, a selection of the region’s best seafood.

Defining the Gold Coast’s food identity is a key theme of the festival. The program includes a panel discussion on Redefining Food on the Gold Coast, which will ask luminaries of the local industry to take part in defining a ‘uniquely Gold Coast’ identity for the local food community.

The Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival is taking place across the Gold Coast from 2 – 4 June. The full program can be found at gcfoodandwine.com.au.
