Making a music video is a special art. And at this year’s Gold Coast Music Awards, the city’s best music videos will be celebrated – along with the people who made them.
It’s hard to imagine songs without their video clips and these days, technology makes the visual much easier to bring to life than ever before. With a good idea and some basic equipment, just about anybody can bring their story to life in moving pictures – meaning that bands at all stages of their career can produce video clips for their fans – engaging people across multiple senses.
QT Gold Coast is the sponsor of the Video of the Year category at the 2018 Gold Coast Music Awards and Andy Reid is in Marketing for the hotel. He says QT jumped at the chance to support the category.
“Music is the language of the world, but when a musician can take their song and turn it into a new form of art like a music video, it emerges you into the artist’s world,” Andy said.
“They convey an even deeper message that sometimes you don’t quite expect from an audio only experience.”
That immersive experience is one that QT takes very seriously. Andy says the team sees QT Gold Coast as an artwork.
“… a place that inspires conversation and arrests the senses,” he said.
“Every location in the QT Hotels and Resorts brand is designed around its surroundings, amplifying the culture and style with a touch of quirk. We want our guests to feel like we’re back in the Gold Coast beach babe days, with a vintage Holden out front; funky up-beat tunes and bright and colourful outfits to kit out our bubbly staff.”
Of course, Gold Coast Music Awards isn’t the only cultural initiative the hotel has thrown its weight behind. QT is well known as a supporter of the city’s best creative events from Bleach to SWELL and the Gold Coast Film Festival.
“QT Hotels and Resorts has a huge supporter of the arts and all things creative,” Andy said. “Supporting these events allows us to be a part of a bigger picture seeing the Gold Coast as a creative, vibrant and happening location on the worlds stage.”
