The Gold Coast’s best five restaurants were revealed this week, with the first ever national GOOD FOOD GUIDE awarding Kiyomi (pictured), The Fish House, Rick Shores, Social Eating House and Mamasan Kitchen and Bar, top honours.
All restaurants were awarded 1 hat, with The Fish House achieving the top overall score of 15.5/20.
Rick Shores was awarded a hat for the first time in the restaurant’s history.
To achieve a hat is a pinnacle of a chef’s career and a restaurant’s history, and the term “hatted” has become embedded in the Australian lexicon.
The 2018 edition of the Good Food Guide is the first time an all-encompassing national guide has been published.
More than 500 restaurants from NSW, VIC, SA, NT, ACT, WA, QLD and TAS were reviewed, with 270 of these achieving hat status, ranging from one to three.
Only six restaurants nationally achieved the top accolade of three hats: Attica (VIC), Brae (VIC), Minamishima (VIC), Quay (NSW), Sepia (NSW) and Urbane (QLD).
