Hanlon Brothers announce new Thursday night residency, debut video

We have big news for Gold Coast’s r’n’b lovers this week with an announcement from Hanlon Brothers of a three-month residency at QT Gold Coast’s Stingray Lounge.

And there’s more. The residency comes at the same time the Hanlon Brothers have released a teaser for a long-awaited video for their song Diamonds. The clip, which is expected to be released in April is the band’s first official video.

“It’s a bit quirky and left of field, but that reflects what people have come to expect from us,” said Saia Hanlon.”

And with quirky and left of field being something the band admires, it’s little wonder they’re excited about their residency.

QT is not the first quirky Gold Coast venue the band have played in. The clip was filmed at Swingin’ Safari, one of the City’s most memorable music venues, credited with helping the band find their feet. Hanlon Brothers ran regular improv nights at Swingin’ Safari, connecting with local audiences for many years before being acknowledged as Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2015 Gold Coast Music Awards.

“The video is more of a short film than a traditional band music clip,” Saia said, “The story is set in a karaoke lounge. We had so much fun making it and are excited to share it soon.”
