JNR Nation opens in Miami shipping container

JNR Nation Sarah, Carter and Halo

There’s a party going down in Miami’s industrial precinct tonight. But it’s not where you think. And it’s not what you think.

Sarah Richards owns two children’s clothing brands, manufactured here on the Gold Coast: Carter Jay Jnr and Halo Jade Jnr. And those two brands have given rise to a new project… JNR NATION.

Tonight JNR NATION comes out of the blocks firing with a pop-up container shop just across the road from Miami Marketta.

“We stock our own two brands of children’s clothing, ranging from boys sleek streetwear to colourful lycra leotards and jackets,” Sarah told Blank Gold Coast. “We also have snapbacks, beanies and even our own range of skateboards.”

Sarah is one of the owners of Mermaid Motors and the container shop sits proudly at the front of the workshop, catering to families and crowds coming out on Friday and Saturday nights to Miami Marketta and The Avalon Miami.  But they’re also open during the week.

Sarah, who has two children: Carter aged three and Halo aged 11 months is a teacher on long service leave.

“I’ve taken a leap from an online store to a physical store,” she said. “And why not in a shipping container.”

“We love the shipping container mall in Christchurch New Zealand, which was constructed after the earthquakes and this was part of our inspiration.”

The launch party is tonight and Sarah says it’s a celebration of months of hard work.

“We have lots of friends and family coming as well as our loyal following from Instagram and other local business,” Sarah said. “Eveyone is welcome and we hope to meet lots of Gold Coast locals!”

And word on the street is that there’ll be a surprise performance by a certain Gold Coast artist kicking massive goals across the nation at the moment. Massive goals.

You probably don’t want to miss this, particularly if you have little people in need of the grooviest duds on the Gold Coast.

JNR Nation is located at 13 Oak Avenue and the launch takes place from 5.30pm, Friday 28 July.
