Kate Miller-Heidke has announced a national tour which includes major regional centres, as well as an appearance at Festival 2018 at Gold Coast and Cairns, which takes place as part of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Kate Miller-Heidke straddles the worlds of pop, folk and opera with aplomb. Spending much of the past year performing with symphony orchestras around the country plus winning the Helpmann Award for Best Australian Contemporary Concert, this tour announcement comes on the back of Kate’s headline announcement in the Woodford Folk Festival lineup.
If you’re new to Kate Miller-Heidke, you should know that the Border Mail described her as having “the finest vocals in Australian music.”
She has released four studio albums in Australia, including the top 5 albums ‘O Vertigo!’, ‘Nightflight’, and ‘Curiouser’, which spawned the multi-platinum hits ‘The Last Day On Earth’ and ‘Caught In The Crowd’. Her songs are stamped with witty humour and poignant insight – always touching.
Beyond her recorded music career, Kate Miller-Heidke has recently made forays into the world of music theatre, composing an opera ‘The Rabbits’ in 2015, which won 4 Helpmann Awards including Best Score and Best New Australian Work. She has recently finished work with Keir Nuttall on composing the music and lyrics for ‘Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical’, which makes its world premiere at the Sydney Theatre Company on 18 November 2017.
