Another killer weekend of live music on the Gold Coast, kicking off with five amazing gigs from Currumbin to Helensvale tonight. Heavy metal, folk, funk and indie music are all covered. We’ve got the full Gold Coast Gig Guide over here, but here’s our top five picks for tonight.

Darkc3ll + The Wrath + Chelsea Rockwells,
Surfers Paradise

Launching brand new album Haunted Reality, Gold Coast / Brisbane’s Darkc3ll have been on the road to promote it, but this is their hometown show, so it’s bound to be a cracker. And if that’s not enough to convince you, they’ve got The Wrath and Chelsea Rockwells in support.

This will be an incredible night of local music for fans of heavier genres. Seriously, people will be talking about this show for a long time. If you like your guitars loud and your hair flailing, hit up elsewhere from 8.00pm. Details here.

NightQuarter’s first birthday bash:
Vaudeville Smash + Jacob Lee + Josh Lovegrove

Nothing says ‘happy birthday’ like a party and NightQuarter is throwing the party for us this weekend. They’ve just turned one so there’s a lot to celebrate. Tonight, Friday 25 November, they’ve got Vaudeville Smash, Jacob Lee and Josh Lovegrove providing the tunes and then Saturday 26 November, things get a little bit funky with two massive brass-fuelled acts: Electrik Lemonade and Cheap Fakes taking to the stage.

NightQuarter is open from 4.00pm – 10.00pm and apart from your three dollar entry fee to the markets, the live music is totally free.

Wren Klauf + Killer Trunk Hunks
+ Not Lenny + Tony Gage, Currumbin

Wren Klauf is the alluring music and visual project of Sam Faulkner. Beginning as a solo venture, the concept developed into something colourful and audacious. And tonight’s gig at Currumbin Creek Tavern coincides with the release of shiny new single Spellbound. Currumbin Creek Tavern has had a few modifications lately. When you head upstairs to the band room you’ll find the team behind Double T have taken over the kitchen. They’ve outgrown their food truck and taken up permanent residency at Currumbin Creek Tavern. Hooray for tacos!

>> Check out Wren Klauf’s premiere over at AAA Backstage.

If you need more convincing, Currumbin Creek Tavern also have a courtesy bus and pub prices. Plus there’s three support bands to boot.

Thundamentals, Miami Tavern

Fresh off the back of performing to massive arena crowds across Australia and New Zealand with Macklemore x Ryan Lewis, Thundamentals are on the road and hitting Miami Tavern Shark Bar as part of their Never Say Never tour!

This marks their first headline run since their massive sold out Elephant In The Room tour last year, which took them around the country for 25 shows and performing to almost 20,000 Thundakats.

They’ve also got Mallards and Pez in support, so you could do much worse. The show is sold out, but there’s a bunch of tickets coming and going via the event’s FB page.

Summertime Sessions: Sonik Mayhem
+ Claire Anne Taylor, Mudgeeraba

A ragtag group of rebellious and rowdy rockers, Sonik Mayhem is the result of Crossing Divides’ Tuesday night music program for young adults with special needs.

With the emphasis on having a great time, whilst learning the art of musical performance, Sonik Mayhem has successful performed shows in Queensland and NSW with numerous festival appearances under their belt. They’ll be in Mudgeeraba tonight, alongside headliner Claire Anne Taylor, who comes fresh from rave reviews at Mullum Music Festival.

Things kick off at 5.00pm right in the middle of Mudgeeraba. More via Facebook.
