NightQuarter offers VIP treatment: The Gallery is launched

As the dust settles on NightQuarter’s opening, it’s easy to see the entertainment precinct’s many benefits to the Gold Coast. Its concert calendar is a huge boost to local talent, and the opening of NightQuarter’s VIP space in May 2016 adds a new dimension to the entertainment experience. The Gallery, as the space is called, is located along one side of The Paddock live music venue on the upper level, giving fantastic views of the stage.

Housed in shipping containers, the final design was reached through collaboration with Coomera TAFE’s Design Department. Student Melissa Bergen, whose winning design sees the space divided into separate booths and two separate dining areas, says that her work was inspired by a recent trip to Melbourne. Each area is wrapped with its own cosy bench seating, overlooked by pieces of stunning street art, the work of Jordan Bruce and Joel Fergie (The Zookeeper) lighting up the space where we dine on wine barrel tables, or standing at a bench overlooking the stage.

Co-owner and Marketing Manager of NightQuarter Michelle Christoe tells us that the new VIP area can be booked for as many as 100 people, the two separate dining rooms catering for groups of 20 – 45. With its own cocktail bar and catering service, VIPs can enjoy performances in their own unique group space.

“This VIP space is a direct response to the community,” Michelle tells us. “We get more than ten calls each day to book functions with good quality food. The space will also enable us to provide a VIP experience for concerts.”

The Backyard Grill can also be booked as an area, giving groups including tourists the experience of an Australian-themed bar, using Queensland beef and locally caught seafood, the custom three-metre-long barbecue fired by sustainable hinterland timbers. Listen as staff explain the provenance of those timbers, how each hardwood imparts different flavours to the meat, accompanied by twenty different South East Queensland beers.

“It’s what gets me out of bed every morning,” Michelle tells us, “the way we can ‘incubate’ talent in this whole creative process. Not only can we help hospitality students from the local high school gain experience and uni students to move from internships to fulltime event management and production, but we also support vendors who’re making the transition from first time retail to a functioning business. We have 140 containers on site, all employing people from the local community.”

In focussing on NightQuarter as an entertainment precinct, it’s too easy to overlook its other benefits to the community as a greenhouse where business expertise can be fostered and employment rates increased. In total it’s a huge winner for the northern Gold Coast.

NightQuarter is at 1 Town Centre Drive, Helensvale Ph: 1800 264 448
