The Gold Coast’s obsession with Pilates and Barre classes continues to soar, with demand driving Sway Bar Pilates founder Linda Harrison to double the size of her Worongary studio within a year of opening.
Established in 2010, Sway Bar Pilates relocated to the new commercial complex at the Worongary Town Centre in September 2016 and has now expanded into the adjacent retail space, with more than 100 classes on offer per week.
“The studio has developed a loyal and growing following, and with rising interest from both women and men of all ages, the time felt right to expand,” Mrs Harrison said.
“The new space allows us to offer more specialised classes for people seeking a functional form of training, with the studio equipped with a host of new equipment so clients can enjoy even more variety.
“Sway Bar already offers a huge selection of classes including reformer classes, semi-private and private Pilates sessions, group Pilates mat, Booty Barre and yoga classes, all under one roof.
“We have added more mixed equipment classes, with brand new towers and wunda chairs for a traditional Pilates equipment workout, plus TRX and circuit classes for those looking for a higher intensity workout to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability using body weight.”
Mrs Harrison says despite the ever changing landscape of the fitness industry, Pilates is here to stay.
“The world of health and fitness is constantly evolving and plenty of fitness fads come and go, but Pilates is a method that has stood the test of time and if anything, its popularity is soaring as more and more people experience the benefits of Pilates,” she said.
“Professional athletes and sporting clubs are integrating Pilates into their training regimes, more physiotherapists are recommending Pilates to clients with back pain and generally, people are becoming more aware of the need to move efficiently leading them to Pilates.”
Gold Coasters are invited to experience the all new Sway Bar at Worongary on Saturday 15 July, with a range of free classes running every half an hour, with a mix of yoga, Pilates mat, Booty Barre and reformer classes on offer between 8.30am and 2pm.
