BIGSOUND is back for 2018. Taking over Fortitude Valley from 4 – 7 September, the massive international music industry gathering has a new focus on disruption and creating change.
There’ll still be panels and keynotes but there’ll be new forum sessions designed to bring the industry together in conversation. There’ll be added opportunities to meet new people and learn practical skills, plus there’ll be a new student ticket rate, meaning that tomorrow’s industry leaders can join the conversation at an affordable price.
And with those awesome announcements comes another one. Applications to showcase are now open.
With alumni like King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, The Jungle Giants, Gang of Youths, Violent Soho, Courtey Barnett and truckloads more, BIGSOUND is a rite of passage for Australian artists breakout out onto the world stage. Showcasing artists are in the running for the $100k Levi’s Music Prize (which Stella Donnelly and Alex Lahey both took out in 2017), plus there’s the immeasurable value of industry contacts, showcase experience and also fun that happens during the event.
Australian and international artists are given the rare chance to perform in front of some of the most influential figures in the international music industry by showcasing at BIGSOUND and artists doing so are provided with epic media exposure with the event covered by national and international media outlets reaching an audience of 24.6 million people. That’s a lot.
Nearly a thousand bands have performed at BIGSOUND over its 16 year history, and it’s easy to see why breaking artists froth over the opportunity to showcase. DMA’s, Seth Sentry, Ball Park Music, Tash Sultana, A.B.Original – the all found their feet doing just that.
Will you be next?
Applications to showcase at BIGSOUND 2018 close 10 May. Hop to it.
