SIPFEST (Shorts in Paradise Festival), part of the wider Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF) program, showcases short films from across Australia, and entries are about to close.
As Australia’s only short film festival held on the beach, SIPFEST will take place on the Surfers Paradise beachfront on Sunday 22 April.
Entries for the annual showcase of the best short films from across Australia are closing on 4 February.
There was a record number of 124 entrants last year – up from 88 submissions in 2016. SIPFEST has cemented itself on the national short film circuit as a festival which not only offers significant prizes for emerging Australian filmmakers, but also offers the audience an incredibly unique viewing opportunity.
This year’s categories and prizes include:
- Best Film: $3000
- Runner up Best Film: $1000
- People’s Choice: $1000
- Best Film by a Gold Coast resident: $500
- Best film showcasing Surfers Paradise $500
- Best Screenplay: $1000
- Best Actor: $500
- Best Actress: $500
