Dance hopefuls Step Up to the beach

Young dancers from Australia and around the world will transform Surfers Paradise into a rhythmic oasis as the iconic beachside precinct hosts Step Up as part of Australian Dance Cup – the Gold Coast’s only beachside dance eisteddfod – from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 April 2018.

An initiative of the Surfers Paradise Alliance (SPA) in partnership with Australian Dance Cup, Step Up invites amateur dancers to compete for their chance to take home their share of close to $5,000 in cash prizes.

Spectators will move and groove in delight as emerging dance stars dazzle crowds with their skills across all styles of dance including latin, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, break dance, freestyle, samba and reggaetón.

With age categories catering for 12 years and under, 13 to 15 years, and 16 years and over, the talented dancers will battle it out with individuals, groups and dance schools invited to register to take part.

The worldwide dance competition provides dance stars an opportunity to showcase their flair for dancing and fosters their love of dance by providing dance workshops to further hone their skills.

A panel of esteemed industry professionals will judge this year’s event with Minx, Michael Fox, Kath Dougan and Matt Browning confirmed.

The Australian Dance Cup is the biggest adult dance competition in Australia, featuring 42 workshops over three days and a series of vibrant beach dance parties open to everyone.

Spectate, try a range of free dance classes or just party the night away social dancing with competitors from the Australian Dance Cup.
