The Arts Centre takes the party to the streets

Live music, dynamic performers, a mini-market, street food and art workshops will be on offer when The Arts Centre Gold Coast celebrates the Signs of the Time exhibition close with The Sign Off – an eclectic, artistic street party on Saturday 1 April from 3.00-7.00pm.

Inspired by all things street culture, The Sign Off will be a chance for visitors to catch a last look at the Signs of the Time exhibition, which has seen unprecedented attendance, and has brought the Gold Coast’s vibrant street art culture to the forefront. Hosted by our very own editor Samantha Morris, and broadcast live with independent radio station 4ZZZ, the local community event will have something for everyone and is free to attend.

A stellar live music line up includes Gold Coast native Fletcher who will kick things off with a DJ set followed by the 60s inspired garage surf vibes of Q Music Award finailsts Some Jerks. One-woman powerhouse Katie Who will bring her signature charm with a stomp-boxing, tambourine-tapping performance and indie rock band Calais and energetic funk collective Electrik Lemonade will get guests on their feet.

The event also includes some of South East Queensland’s best emerging live entertainers and street performers, including the high-energy party vibes of Divine Our Destiny crew, street dance from District Studios and performance art with a Polynesian twist from the Pacific Passage program.

Pop-up market Suitcase Rummage will make their first appearance on the Gold Coast for 2017. Visitors can bargain, swap or haggle with an array of stall holders selling everything from vintage,
artwork, and music to clothing, books, and jewellery. Street-food vendors will add pop-up dining to the artistic vibe, including Barraca Street Grill, The Wiener Haus and local brews from Burleigh Brewing Co.

Visitors can learn more about the Signs of the Time exhibition with a gallery tour or try new art techniques with free workshops in the ArtLab space and DIY craft activities with Community
