Black Stone from the Sun celebrate album release with GC show, Thursday 10 May

Perth punk-grunge duo Black Stone from the Sun have announced the release of their gritty debut album ‘Dreamalysis’ as well as a bunch of dates, which pleasingly, includes the Gold Coast. Recorded by The Love Junkies frontman Mitch McDonald at Perth’s legendary Blackbird Studios, this pair can be forgiven for the time passed between releases; having kept busy by touring nationally, supporting Birds of Tokyo on their album tour and playing their asses off everywhere in WA. They’re at SoCo Thursdays at Parkwood Tavern on Thursday 10 May.

 

The Lockhearts bring Americana doom fuzz to Mo’s, Sunday 13 May

The Lockhearts formed in Sydney’s inner west over a shared love of Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and hot sauce. They began crafting their signature bell-bottom swagger and delivering explosive performances over an 18-month residency, which began at Sydney’s Brighton Up Bar. Things have moved on a little since then, with their debut full length album ‘Americana Doom Fuzz’ harking back to a golden fertile era showcasing their ‘keep it loose, keep it tight’ approach to moody guitar-driven songwriting. They’ll bring that approach to Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on Sunday 13 May.

 

Busby Marou perform at Soundlounge, Sunday 27 May

It’s only been a few weeks since Busby Marou were announced as the face (and voice) of the new Tourism Queensland campaign ‘beautiful one day, perfect the next’. They’re flying high – latest album ‘Postcards from the Shellhouse’ debuted at #1 on the ARIA charts and they sold 3000 tickets to their first annual One Hot Night Festival in Rockhampton. Hopefully their local show will be just as epic. You can catch them at Soundlounge on Sunday 27 May.

 

The Rubens drop new single and tour announcement, Thursday 31 May

With their third studio album on the horizon, Hottest 100 winners The Rubens are gathering steam. They’ve released a new single ‘Never Ever’ and are hitting the road in celebration. They’ll roll out a 15-date national tour through regional Australia, showing fans why they’re known to never ever do things by halves. The Rubens will be at Surfers Paradise Beergarden on Thursday 31 May.

 

New album and tour for Stonefield, Saturday 2 June

Following a huge tour with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club last month and now in the midst of a residency in LA, Victorian four-piece Stonefield have released their third studio LP ‘Far From Earth’, the latest addition to their ever-growing catalogue and a veritable psych-prog gem. They’ve also announced an extensive national Australian tour in May and June – seems to be the season for it. They’re stopping in at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on Saturday 2 June.

 

Spit Syndicate announce 20-date tour, Thursday 7 June

As well as upcoming album ‘Orbit’, due for release on 11 May, Spit Syndicate have also announced a 20-date tour. Produced by long term collaborators Adit(Horrorshow) and Jono Graham (Left.), the release is Spit Syndicat’s sixth studio album. They’re at Miami Shark Bar on Thursday 7 June.

 

Backroads for Lloyd Spiegel, Friday 29 June

Australian acoustic blues mastermind Lloyd Spiegelhas announced his eighth album ‘Backroads’ and a tour to back it up. ‘Backroads’ is a hard-edged, brutally honest account of Spiegel’s life outside of music and reinvents his sound for new audiences, delivering more punch in his most powerful studio release to date. The Backroads Australian Tour kicks off in June and takes in most parts of Australia including the Soundlounge, Currumbin on 29 June, but you don’t have to wait that long to check out the new songs. You can also catch Lloyd at Blues on Broadbeach which runs 17 – 20 May.

 

Come Together hits Nightquarter, Saturday 30 June

It’s a music lover’s bonanza. Nightquarter  has partnered with Luna Park Sydney to brings its famed one-day party to our golden shores for the first time ever.Come Together has been around for more than a decade, delivering on its indie rock origins and hosting some of the country’s most memorable hip-hop gatherings and now it’s coming to the Gold Coast for its maiden voyage. And the lineup is seriously ace. Spiderbait lead the announcement, with regular rock faves The Superjesus as well as Mammal, Osaka Punch and serious party gals Rackett. Come Together takes place Saturday 30 June at Nightquarter with doors at 4.00pm.

 

Preatures announce 40-date regional tour, Thursday 23 August

With a well-earned reputation as one of the country’s most exhilarating and hard-working live bands, The Preatureshave announced a gigantic national headline tour which will take in 40 dates over four months. The 4-piecehave also dropped a fresh remix of fan-favourite track ‘Magick; from their second album Girlhood. The Preatures have had a sensational start to 2018 supporting the Foo Fighters,performing atTwilight at the Tarongaand Melbourne Zoo, Reverb Festival, Castaway Festival, Party in the Paddock, Mountain Sounds& Golden Plains Festival and you can catch them at Miami Marketta on Thursday 23 August.
