When eight Blank ladies decided to gather to talk strategic planning and the future of the magazine, we struck a little hiccup. Where to meet? We had two pregnant ladies, three with special dietary requirements, four with two year old ratbags at home and all of them needing some space and time to reflect on their work and be nurtured.
And in a spacious apartment, overlooking Circle on Cavill with views to the ocean and hinterland, we found our solution, thanks to Holiday Holiday.
Lee Lee is the Owner and Director of the Gold Coast based company which manages property rentals for apartments across a number of stellar properties in Surfers Paradise.
“We have quite a few big buildings around that we take care of,” she told me and listed Circle on Cavill, Chevron Renaissance, Hilton and Soul as examples.
While renting apartments to gaggles of women (like us) for short breaks isn’t anything new for a tourist town like the GC, what Holiday Holiday do that’s a little bit different to other providers is work directly with the owners of the apartments, effectively cutting out the middle man.
There’s no question that some holiday makers want the ‘hotel’ experience. And experienced travellers know that what you’re paying for when you have that experience is five star service. Daily room servicing, food and drinks to your door, ice machines on every second flood (it’s not just me, is it?) restaurants and bars and pools and concierges.
Lee Lee said the properties they offer are a little more upmarket than standard apartment offerings. “Most of the properties are four or five star,” she said.
Holiday Holiday’s most common clients are from Australia and NZ and they mainly market through online sales.
“We have a very strong SEO and IT team,” Lee Lee said and indeed if you Google Circle on Cavill, Holiday Holiday comes up in the first few search results.
As well as teams like Blank’s using the space for business with lots of cool amenities at our doorstep (hello spa bath, hello Brooklyn Depot), Lee Lee said families often sought apartments for their stay on the Gold Coast. “They’re often looking for somewhere with a fridge, microwave and laundry,” she said.
We didn’t use the laundry, but oh boy did we put that fridge to good use.
