Julia Rose has a three octave range, so it’s no wonder she’s renowned for silencing a room and holding audiences until the final note.
Hailing from the Gold Coast, Julia’s first single Gina from new EP Stairway to the Moon launched at number three on the AirIT Great Southern Charts. And her music video and single for Melbourne Town has received airplay on both Rage and Channel V, taking out Music Video of the Year at the Australian Dolphin Awards.
Stairway to the Moon is Julia’s second EP and Julia’s love of the Australian coastline is evident in her music. The EP features Julia’s sisters Louise Cottone – a violinist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Clair Cottone – a soul / reggae artist with CC the Cat. Dan Hitzke joins the ladies on drums and Innes Campbell takes up the guitar. The album was produced by Gold Coast’s Guy Cooper from Seratonin Productions and is available now in iTunes.
Having spent much of 2012 and 2013 on the road touring the new EP (including gigs in Tokyo and Osaka), Julia Rose is back on the coast for a string of shows early in 2014 before taking the album to USA and Europe later in the year.
Julia Rose plays Soundlounge Currumbin on Friday 10 January with Hussy Hicks and Allensworth.
