Green Room Battle of the Bands
Expressive Ground, a Gold Coast community arts association, is staging its annual all ages battle of the bands competition during the month of September with the final taking place in October.
The Green Room Battle of the Bands is aimed at high school students but open to all genres and formats, solo artists and duos as well.
Awesome prizes include cash, music mentoring sessions from WHO Agencies, a t-shirt merchandise pack from ProScreen, free rehearsals at Expressive Ground and a marketing package from Blank GC.
The Green Room Battle of the Bands is now in its third year and has been a huge success.
“The talent we have seen so far has been mind blowing from such young artists, so much so, that even our music mentors continue to work with the past winners,” said Music Coordinator Josie Cooper.
“We try and source prizes that will be beneficial to them in this industry.”
Josie said the aim is to help artists develop as well as to expand the Green Room program into an incubator for them.
“We have plans in place to offer workshops in all aspects of the music industry and give them the skills and resources to put on their own show here at Expressive Ground at the completion of the program.”
Judges are sourced from professionals already working within the music industry including musicians, music managers, festival organisers and teachers.
First and second place from each heat will go through to the final and fans are encouraged to come along and show their support as a people’s choice will be awarded to one act by way of vote, who will also get to go through and compete in the final.
Tickets are $10 on the door and there will be food and drinks available.
Expressive Ground is a not for profit association dedicated to developing arts and cultural activities, with a special focus on young people.
