We got out of our dreams and into Billy Ocean’s car last night when he hit The STAR Gold Coast for the last performance of his nation-wide ‘All The Hits’ tour.
With his crisp white suit, megawatt smile, funky dreadlocked hair, incredible vocals and smooth sashaying dance moves, Ocean delivered a fun, feelgood performance that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Like a fine wine, he has just gotten better and better with age.
“Are you gonna sing with me? Are you gonna dance with me?” Ocean asked the crowd, which was met with grandiose applause and many a “I love you Billy!”
Over an hour and a half he performed hit after hit from his catalogue of classics which included crowd favourites ‘When the Going Gets Tough’, ‘Get Outta My Dreams’, ‘Suddenly’, ‘Love Really Hurts Without You’, ‘Loverboy’ and the roof raising encore ‘Caribbean Queen’.
With over 30 million record sales to his name, Billy Ocean’s hits have certainly stood the test of time. Still going strong at 69 years of age he delivered the feelgood factor with gusto and showed no signs of slowing down any time soon. It was a top-notch performance that had everyone dancing in the aisles and back to their cars. What a way to start the week.
