Throw your hat in the ring and join local talent for Bluesfest’s busking competition.
This year the wealth of prizes is ever-increasing with a major boost in sponsors and supporters, allowing for a bigger and better event than previous years.
Coordinated by Anita Colenbrander, the Bluesfest Busking Comp has become a highly sought after national event, which sees Byron come alive with incredible talent just one week prior to Bluesfest.
The competition gives artists an opportunity to showcase their music to an otherwise unattainable audience.
This year, prizes include the opportunity to Open Delta Stage at Bluesfest 2016 as well as recording packages and more.
The busking vibes at Bluesfest run throughout the entire festival with a stage dedicated to the talent unearthed through the competition.
If you’re lucky enough to be at the festival, You’ll also see roving buskers embracing the Bluesfest spirit, popping up throughout the festival grounds providing unexpected musical encounters for festival goers from around the world.
Bluesfest Busking is not just for local artists either, the competition is open to talent from right around Australia.
Applications for the Bluesfest Busking Competition close 29 February.
A panel reviews submissions to select 40 artists who’ll more through to semi-finals which will be held at Beach Hotel, Byron Bay on 21 and 22 March. Six finalists will then play at a finals’ event on 25 March before also being given the opportunity to play on the Busking Stage.
