Bluesfest Winding Up Before The Wind Down

Today is the last day of Bluesfest and while we are tired, dirty and over-brimming with music we don’t want to leave. Last night (Sunday) saw the only Australian show for Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals and every body in Bluesfest packed into the Mojo tent to see the magic man behind Steal My Kisses. It was also the second time on stage for Hip Hop favourites Jurassic 5 who once again had the crowd swaying and throwing their bodies around. Another favourite from Sunday night was Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaries who has still got it and moves like a demon. Wearing an amazing electric blue suit it wasn’t hard to believe that Charles used to impersonate James Brown – the way he moved was just as energetic and memorable.

Gold Coast local Karl S. Williams played his second set of the festival, continuing to entrance listeners with his story-telling spirit and his powerful vocals. He has another set today and we are just as excited to see him as the rest of the punters, with crowds building each time he strums his guitar. Something else we are incredibly excited to see tonight is Paul Kelly presents the Merri Soul Sessions which includes a host of incredible musicians joining Paul – like Dan Sultan, Kira Puru and Vika & Linda Bull. The powerful Sahara Beck is playing before Michael Franti & Spearhead take over the Crossroads stage to close out five wonderful days of the Byron Bay Bluesfest.

We will keep you updated with any news that runs through the festival on our Facebook and Instagram.
