The Black Keys, the Zac Brown Band & the Alabama Shakes are the first headliners announced for Bluesfest 2015. It’s been nine years since The Black Keys have performed at Bluesfest and in the past three years they’ve taken out a whopping seven Grammy Awards. Zac Brown Band are the fifth highest concert grossing band in the USA right now and Alabama Shakes will perform two sets when they hit the festival for the first time ever.
“We never have anything less than great announcements at Bluesfest – I think this time around we are making one of our best so far,” said Peter Noble, Bluesfest Director. Also on the bill are Paul Kelly with his Merri Soul Sessions featuring Dan Sultan, Kira Puru & Vika & Linda Bull and Xavier Rudd and his new band The United Nations with musicians from all over the world, including Indigenous Australia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, South Africa and more.
Then there’s George Clinton, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Beth Hart, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, SOJA, Rebelution, G. Love & Special Sauce, Frank Turner& The Sleeping Souls, Band of Skulls, Pokey La Farge and Mariachi El Bronx.
At the time of writing, TRAIN had also been whacked onto the first announcement. Exciting stuff.
It’s only the tip of the iceberg though, with Noble promising much more.
“This is only the first of many Bluesfest announcements to come,” he said. “We are creating a churning whirl of burning funk for ya listening and dancing pleasure.”
