Bundall Bazaar: Gold Coast’s newest night market

For long-time locals, a trip to Bundall has always been about the racecourse, Council chambers and perhaps a trip to buy furniture or homewares. But things are a-changing.

As well as the widening of Bundall Road and the new Cultural Precinct rising from Evandale, Bundall is now home to Gold Coast’s newest night market – Bundall Bazaar

Think open spaces, chilled styling, killer original (and local) music, awesome food trucks and a genuine community and family-friendly vibe.

Melissa Hopwood is the founder, running the new Bundall Bazaar night market in partnership with the Greek community of St Anna.

“We saw an opening in the central area of the Gold Coast,” Melissa said. “We are all about supporting Gold Coast local musicians, artists and creatives.”

It’s a little different from its market counterparts (which are springing up thick and fast on the Gold Coast). Food trucks represent the best the Gold Coast has to offer: Barraca, Food Kartel, Boss Bites, Zicatella, Little Wahaca, The Churros Shack and Kocunut Kid just some of the food trucks involved every fortnight.

All creative stalls and their products have to be Gold Coast made or locally designed. And in a coup for the punters, the Bundall Bazaar is also supported by local craft brewers and local residents – Pickled Pig Brewery.

Bundall Bazaar has come out of the blocks firing, too – no wonder given Melissa’s connection to local events and the music scene. The music program over the market’s first few weeks has included Phil Barlow, Amela and Ella Fence.

The night market takes place in the grounds of the Hellenic Function Centre with the striking Greek church as its backdrop. Bundall Bazaar is right across the road from the post office in Bundall and takes place on the first and third Friday of the month from 5.00 – 9.00pm.
