Connecting Southern Gold Coast has announced it has cancelled the fireworks display at the end of the premier Christmas Carols event on December 15 and instead, have partnered with Currumbin Wildlife Hospital to fundraise for animals who have been injured with the recent bushfires.
Funds will be raised by asking families who attend to donate a gold coin if they can with all money going directly to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
Connecting Southern Gold Coast CEO Josh Martin, said the iconic Coolangatta Christmas Carols event is a favourite on the local event calendar and it was an easy decision to cancel the fireworks and aid our local wildlife.
“The Coolangatta Christmas Carols is all about bringing the community together to celebrate the festive season and with the tragic bushfires and the impact they have had on our wildlife, we are proud to be partnering with Currumbin Wildlife Hospital to raise much needed funds.” said Mr Martin.
“We are asking those who attend our carols to donate a gold coin if they can, and with thousands of locals and visitors expected to attend again this year and this is a wonderful opportunity to rattle tins and give back to the community.” He adds
