Carlton Dry loves Australian music, and loves to support the impressive music we have by injecting a sweet $50 000 grant to help them tour the world. Last year King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard won this incredible grant. They toured America, Iceland, China, Europe and played showcases at some of the most incredible music festivals around the world.
Carlton Dry took their chance at Bigsound 2014 to announce the four shortlisted bands in the running to win this life changing grant.
The shortlisted acts are:
- Remi – a greek singer songwriter with three albums under his belt known for his laid back folk rock tunes
- SAFIA – an electro-indie 3-piece SAFIA who won the Groovin The Moo competition discovered by Triple J’s unearthed program
- Saskwatch – one of Melbourne’s most electrifying live acts, this 9-piece band have taken their unique music to some of the Australia’s biggest and best festivals
- The Smith Street Band – this odd folk-punk band from Melbourne have made their mark in the past few years with two brutally frank Australian EPs
A big congratulations to the shortlisted acts and the best of luck to them all! Blank Mag had a chat with SAFIA at Bigsound 2014, so keep your eyes peeled for the interview!
