Holy Moly, like NightQuarter hasn’t already kicked serious goals in the short few months it’s been operating.
They ran their first ticketed event in the Paddock last weekend – with more than 700 people in attendance for House of Hanlons and today they’ve announced The Cat Empire will play their 2000-capacity space on Sunday 8 May.
Fresh from a killer Bluesfest set, The Cat Empire are, without a doubt one of Australia’s best festival-party bands. Colourful and genre-bending, their reputation is built upon chaotic and fiercely uplifting live shows. If you need proof, take note that in 2015, more than half a million people bought tickets to witness those shows.
The Cat Empire show at NightQuarter is part of a national run of dates which cover May and June with regional centres (hello Karatha and Airlie Beach) thrown in alongside capital cities. The tour sits between UK, Canadian and European dates and with Bluesfest out of the way, one would assume the show will be tight and tasty!
Adding to the good news is the support act, Pierce Brothers. No strangers to Gold Coast stages, this pair have taken their music to the world, from humble beginnings busking on the streets of Melbourne town. They’ve also just played Bluesfest, with their irresistible energy generating a serious amongst those seeing them for the first time. Existing fans weren’t surprised at all. Their acclaimed live act has been shaking dance floors and selling out rooms across UK, Europe, Canada and USA. Helensvale is the logical next stop.
Rising With The Sun Tour, featuring The Cat Empire and Pierce Brothers in support hits NightQuarter on Sunday 8 May. Tickets are on sale now, and minors are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Make no mistake. This show will sell out. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
Full interview with The Cat Empire will be in the next edition of Blank GC – out Thursday 31 March.
See you up the front, kitty cats.
