Last year Bondi legends Cog surprised fans all over Australia by announcing their return to the stage, taking to the road and touring Australia once again for the first time in six years. And only 8 months later they have announced a three city sprint up the east coast of Australia. This time playing one of Brisbanes most stand out venues, Eatons Hill Hotel.
The trio took on a somewhat cult following amongst Aussie fans back in 2005 with the release of their debut album The New Normal. The album took the band to new lengths, taking their already unique sound and commercialising it in the best way possible. Tracks Run and My Enemy became the albums two singles, but it was tracks such as Anarchy Ok, Real Life and what became the most staple of live opening tracks Doors that really made an impact on fans and took their live show to a new level.
It was only three years later that the boys released their second and final album Sharing Space. They would tour several times on the albums success, but soon after they would announce their retirement, shocking fans everywhere. Now they’re back, the live show is better than ever, the band is tighter than ever and the crowd is more fanatic than ever.
Cog is one of those bands I refuse to miss live. I don’t think I’ve missed a tour since 2004. And for good reason, they have never disappointed. If you’re a fan and have yet to catch them live, well there’s no time like the present. Get along and catch one of Australia’s most incredible live acts, you won’t regret it.
