Drake is headlining shows in Australia for the first time ever!
He has taken his sweet time in getting to us but finally it’s confirmed; he will be here in early 2015, not only headlining Future Music Festival, but his own shows as well with fellow rapper 2 Chainz recently announced as his support act.
The Canadian hip-hop god will grace us with his presence for the first time on 25 February 2015 in Sydney, where he will be playing his first show at the Allphones Arena. After that his tour will hit Melbourne 27 February, then Perth 3 March and finally Brisbane on 5 March.
Whilst performing his own shows around the country he will also be headlining the Future Music Festival. The Festival hits Brisbane on 7 March. With Sydney 28 February, Perth 1 March, Melbourne 8 March and Adelaide 9 March.
So basically he will be flying all over the country, back and forth, up and down, delivering gifts of live musical pleasure like the time poor Santa Claus of hip-hop that he is. 2015 is set to be a huge year for Drake; as well as playing a whole bunch of shows in Australia, Drake will also be releasing his fourth studio album; Views From The 6. ‘The 6’ supposedly referring to Toronto, Canada the city Drake was born and partially raised in whose area code: ‘416’ he has tattooed across his torso.
So whether you catch him at Future or book tickets to see him at one of his own headlining shows around the country, make sure you turn up and show Drake that Australia has a rap and hip-hop culture that has more artistic potential and much better lyrical content than the ‘songs’ that ever reference VB, constantly drop the c-bomb or repeatedly state that ‘Kerser is the sickest’…which I assure you, he is not.
