Friday 21 February 2020, saw Miami Marketta play host to the Dreams Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks Tribute Show. Founded by Gold Coast guitarist Wayne Daniels, and with members hailing from across the region, Dreams is a passionate Tribute to the music of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.
It was the band’s debut Gold Coast show, with tickets selling out back in January, so expectations were high. And it’s safe to say that Dreams did not disappoint.
From the time the band hit the stage, they had the audience along with them for what was to be an exciting ride through musical history.
The band opened their 2+ hour show with Fleetwood Mac’s classic ‘Gold Dust Woman’, before launching into ‘Say You Love Me’ and Steve Nicks’ classic ‘Stop Dragging My Heart Around’, and other classics ‘Gold’, ‘Rooms on Fire’ and ‘Sara’. The energy in the room was electric, with audience members both young and old singing along with every song. The first set ended with a high energy performance of ‘Second-hand News’.
The second set was where the fun really began. ‘Rhiannon’ had the whole room singing along, before rolling straight into ‘The Chain’. The audience went crazy as the bass player stepped forward to play one of the most recognisable bass lines of all time. The hits kept coming with ‘Gypsy’, ‘Everywhere’, ‘Seven Wonders, ‘Dreams’ and ‘Edge of Seventeen’. Then we hear the familiar sounds of the intro to ‘TUSK’, and as the drums start, the audience goes wild. The drum solo took the song to another level. By this time, you would be forgiven for thinking you were at a much larger concert as the band were putting on a real show. The final two songs of the set ‘Don’t Stop’ and ‘Go Your Own Way’ left the crowd screaming for more. And again, Dreams did not disappoint.
They performed a three-song encore which included beautiful renditions of ‘Songbird’ and ‘Landslides’ which had the audience singing along to every word. Then the rest of the band came back on to close the night with Stevie Nicks’ cover of Led Zeppelin classic ‘Rock and Roll’.
Dreams will hit Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club on Friday, March 6. If you missed out on tickets, Dreams is returning to Miami Marketta for a second show on Friday, June 26. For more information and to purchase tickets, head over to the OZTIX website. Don’t miss out!
