Falls Festival (Musical Christmas for those of us who wait for festivals to come like little kids wait for Santa) have just released their highly anticipated lineup for 2016. With 50+ international artist expected to span over four different locations including Lorne (Victoria), Marion Bay (Tasmania), Byron Bay (NSW) and for the very first time, Fremantle (WA), it is great way to ensure your 2017 kicks off with a bang.
Unless you were hoping to head to Victoria. That’s already sold out.
Childish Gambino was the first of many international artists that Falls Festival released to the public, making sure that we knew that the festival was here for business and that there were no games to be played. London Grammar was the second teaser, followed by name after name of each incredible artist that are going to be filling the stages across all corners of Australia this year. If name dropping was a thing when announcing a festival lineup then Falls would not only take the cake, but obliterate the entire thing.
Artists like The Avalanches or Bernard Fanning who are sure to take you for a trip down memory lane, while bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen and local Brisbane babes, Violent Soho, are guaranteed to get you workin’ up a sweat in the mosh. If you’re more of a ‘I go to festivals for the vibes’ type of person then maybe something a little more chill like countryman Marlon Williams or smooth ol’ Matt Corby is more catered towards your taste.
Thankfully, this isn’t Falls’ first rodeo (which you can pretty much gather already from their stellar lineup) and they realise, sometimes it all gets a bit too much, so they have you covered for things to do while you’re giving your eardrums a rest. Some of those activities include: visual arts performances, daily beach access, pop-up bars and beer gardens, food trucks, restaurants, holistic and wellbeing services and interactive games and activities.
Tickets went on sale on 30 August.
