The GENERATE Program is a generator, producer, ideas exchange, interdisciplinary and 100 per cent Gold Coast creative platform for the development of new work. This three stage program will bring together artists, creatives and collectives to develop content for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™ (GC2018) arts and cultural program, and submissions are closing on the 14th March.
Embracing the opportunity that GC2018 brings, the City of Gold Coast is offering a unique program of development and production for individual artists and/or organisations that are creative, ambitious and bold.
Do you want to make great art happen? Do you love to surprise and delight audiences? Are you excited by the idea of making work in unique and unlikely places? Can you commit to being a part of a three stage program that will run from May 2016 – April 2018 in the lead up to and during the Games?
Yaron Lifschitz, head of Circa and Creative Lead for GC2018, details the initiative.
“We’re interested in working with artists who want to create site-specific and interactive performances and artworks for audiences who aren’t expecting it. The 2018 Commonwealth Games provides a great site for pop up art throughout the city. While the process will evolve and will be shaped by the artists involved, at its core will be a focus on ideas generation, testing and developing ideas, and realising them in the lead up to and during the Games.”
The GC2018 arts and cultural program will help to do just that by offering a range of experiences and spectacles designed to surprise and delight audiences. It will enhance the Games experience and showcase authentically local arts and culture and our distinctive active outdoor lifestyles.
