Submissions are now open for the 2020 Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF), which is exactly what we wanted to hear!
GCFF is calling for all submissions for feature films, shorts, webseries and Queensland feature scripts. With an enticing $20,000 cash up for grabs across the festival, the level of entries is sure to astound, as it does every year. Also be sure to mark your calendars and cancel any plans, (the ones you needed an excuse not to go to), for the festival’s Student Networking Event in November and Screen Industry Christmas Event in December.
The following entries will receive different awards and prizes depending on their categories:
Feature Films are in for a chance to take home the PKF Best Australian Film Award open to all Australian features, or the Blackmagic Design Best Australian Indie Film Award, with $5,000 in Blackmagic Design camera equipment awarded to an independent Australian film.
Thanks to Surfers Paradise Alliance, Short Films will compete for $8,000 in cash prizes across 7 categories at SIPFest on the sands of Surfers Paradise Beach. One fortunate filmmaker will take home the People’s Choice Award voted for by the audience on the night.
Webseries will compete for the chance to screen at GCFF2020 and take home the Best Australian Webseries ($500 cash) or Best International Webseries.
GCFF is once again accepting feature film scripts from Queensland-based writers with $5,000 cash awarded for the Queensland Screenwriting Award, thanks to The Heaton Group, and the chance to participate in a live script read with local actors during the 2020 Gold Coast Film Festival.
The Gold Coast Film Festival is an AACTA-Award qualifying film festival bringing diverse Australian and International films, filmmakers and film events right here to the Gold Coast and to you. Entries are now open with the help of Film Freeway. The regular deadline is 5 January, the extended ‘late’ deadline is 2 February 2020.
