Guidelines for controversial Excellence for the Arts program open for comment

The Federal Government’s highly controversial new $80 million funding program for the arts has released its draft guidelines.

The National Program for Excellence in the Arts is slated to open early in 2015-16 and be allocated on an ongoing basis to small, medium and large arts organisations at national, regional and community scales.

Federal Arts Minister George Brandis released the draft guidelines earlier this week for public comment. Feedback is invited from the arts sector and broader community.

The draft guidelines are available here. Comments are accepted by email to nationalexcellenceprogram@arts.gov.au and close 5.00pm, 31 July 2015.
