Harry J Hart scores Hanlon Brothers support slot for Sunday Sounds

What began as a very localised Sunday session has turned into kind of a big deal.

Sunday Sounds at Sanctuary Cove this weekend plays host to one of the biggest names of the Gold Coast, as well as one of the newest.

Hanlon Brothers and James Fox Higgins headline the event, with newcomer and Sunday Sounds Young Talent winner Harry J Hart providing the half-time set.

Harry J Hart (pictured in feature image) was selected from scores of hopeful young performers through Sanctuary Cove’s young talented search program for people under 18.

Already a seasoned performer at the age of just 14, the Benowa State High student is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist who regularly busks around the Coast, and plans to perform a spirited set of favourites by Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz and a variety of mash-ups.

“I was really surprised and excited when I got the call to say I was chosen as the Young Talent performer,” Harry said. “I love that I have the chance to perform at such a great event. I really like the sounds of both James Fox Higgins and the Hanlon Brothers, so I know it’s going to be a fun day.”

While Blank readers will be very familiar with Hanlon Brothers, who last year took out Emerging Artist of the Year at the Gold Coast Music Awards, James Fox Higgins may be a new name. But he’s no stranger to the stage.

Performing since he was a child, Fox Higgins – a singer, songwriter and producer –  shared the stage with some huge names including Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Joy Denalane, Sneaky Sound System, Los Amigos Invisibles, Katie Noonan and Stan Walker.

Often compared to John Mayer and Jason Mraz yet with a style all his own, Fox Higgins’ love of music is evident in every performance where his unique and brilliant voice takes centre stage. He’s promised a performance that is equal parts soul, jazz and retro-pop. Sounds like the perfect ingredients to a Sunday session to me.

James Fox Higgins is on stage at 1.00pm and Hanlon Brothers close the event from 4.00pm.

Hanlon Brothers are known for melding a wide variety of styles, cultures and genres into their signature sound that is an exhilarating mix of soul, R&B, jazz, funk and hip-hop.
