Jesus Christ Superstar redesigned for a new world

The classic rock opera has been made over: redesigned for a world obsessed with celebrity and social media.

Supervising Director Kris Stewart (Wicked), Musical Director David Piper (The Boy from Oz, Legally Blonde), Associate Director Brad Rush (The Arts Centre Gold Coast, The Green Room Project) and Choreographer Ben Veitch (So You Think You Can Dance), along with the talented cast are ready to bring a new, reimagined version of Jesus Christ Superstar to life this month.

Rehearsals are well underway, the costumes are designed and the set is beginning to bump in. It’s action stations and that’s because there’s only just over a week before the show hits Arts Centre Gold Coast.

Since its Broadway debut, this spectacular musical has thrilled millions of theatregoers worldwide: mesmerising them with its passion and captivating them with its story. The last seven days in Jesus’ life are dramatised with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality.

Propelled by a stirring score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, this classic rock opera takes you from rock anthems like Judas’ Heaven on their Minds through to ballads like Mary’s Everything’s Alright and I Don’t Know How to Love Him.

Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart. Don’t miss this thrilling new production of one of the most popular musicals of all time, fully produced by The Arts Centre Gold Coast.
