Jim Moginie and the Family Dog ‘Summer of the Dog Tour’ comes our way this December.
Midnight Oil guitarist and principal songwriter, Jim Moginie, is heading into town with his band the Family Dog, to rip into some tunes, hitting the road after a long hiatus and showcasing songs and tunes from the new album ‘Bark Overtures’. It was released on 5 November by Sony Music Australia on CD and vinyl and Orchard digitally worldwide.
The band changes members from time to time, but this line up is a ripper, on tour this November/December. It features Kent Steedman and Paul Loughhead from The Celibate Rifles, plus multi-instrumentalist Tim Kevin from La Huva, Exiles and Youth Group. Live, this line-up is all about dynamics, travelling from a whisper to a scream, from a blitzkrieg, to trippy psychedelia, and evidently the odd Oil’s classic is thrown in for good measure at some gigs.
Fresh from Midnight Oil’s reunion and massively successful Grand Circle World Tour, Moginie is back and has picked up some of his own projects, in which he invested so much of his time and talents in the intervening years between Midnight Oil’s break up in late 2002 and the bands reformation last year.
Catch Jim Moginie and the Family Dog ‘Summer of the Dog Tour’ The Brightside, Brisbane and 15 December at Sol Bar Maroochydore, before heading down to Byron Bay Theatre on Sunday 16 December. Ticket for the Byron gig here.
