Singer/songwriter Julia Jacklin is set to head out on her biggest tour yet this month and she hits Brisbane on 9 March at the Triffid. The tour begins only one day before she drops her second album ‘Crushing’ due for release on 22 February.
‘Crushing’ follows Jacklin’s critically acclaimed album ‘Don’t Let The Kids Win’ which won the artist “Next Big Thing’ award at the FBi SMAC Awards, Best independent Blues and Roots album at the AIR Awards and two ARIA nominations.
Julia Jacklin’s latest offering is formed from the sheer intensity of feeling, an in-the-moment narrative of heartbreak and infatuation. With her storytelling centred on bodies and crossed boundaries and smothering closeness, ‘Crushing’ reveals how our physical experience of the world shapes and sometimes distorts our inner lives.
Of the tour, Julia says “The band and I worked really hard on this album, really got to know each other as friends and musicians, it is going to be great to recreate it on stage. The songs are personal but I feel like the audiences I’ve built over the last couple of years are respectful and open. It’s going to be a nice environment to play them first.”
Julia Jacklin plays at the Triffid in Brisbane on 9 March with special guest Olympia. Tickets available here.
