Those crazy folk at Board Culture are at it again. Not only are they throwing open the doors to their open-air, back-yard to a bunch of musicians, this time they’re bringing at artist and slam poetry crew with them.
Lay Dayz Volume II builds on the success of the inaugural event which saw the 100+ crowd up on their feet to close out the day with The Ruiins and a surprise appearance by Karl S Williams to round out the music.
Organiser Kirra Huddy (just kirra) said the debut event was “incredible, with everyone getting into it and supporting live and local awesomeness.”
Lay Dayz Volume II will feature live art by local creative Rebecca Cunningham who has recently had a piece accepted into the Swell Sculpture Festival 2015. And the crew from Bigger Than Poetry will also bring their work to the event. It’s BYO and if you’re in dire need you can pick up some wax, sunnies and even a surfboard while there.
On the music lineup is Ondre Solien, Adam from The Ruiins, just kirra, Sarah Frank, Katie Who and birthday boy Benny D Williams.
“We’re doing it again,” Kirra said. “Creating some incredible musical fusion to fuel some rad vibes!”
“This is all just building off the good will and energy of all involved, so it’s going to be awesome to see what Volume II brings,” Kirra said.
She also acknowledged the work of Travis Buchanan in supporting the concept. “He’s the man behind Board Culture who fuels the excitement and imagination of almost all who he meets,” Kirra said.
